Winter Stations Competition

A submission for the 2021 Winter Station Competition on Woodbine beach, Toronto.

The Winter Stations was looking for temporary winter art installations which incorporate the existing lifeguard towers located across the Kew and Woodbine beaches.  The theme was Refuge.  Participants were asked to “reflect back on the year we have left behind and consider what refuge means to each of us: a shelter; a place of comfort and security, a sanctuary.”  They suggested to design competitors to
"play with the literal and figurative, exploring what refuge means as we re-examine the importance of public space.” (Quotes from Winter Stations website)

My submission focused on creating a space and experience that brought the visitors closer to nature.
