Kitchen Renovation

An expansion and renovation of the kitchen within the existing footprint of a 100 year old house in Alta Vista.  The new kitchen takes the place of the previous small kitchen and informal dining area.

It all started with the client wanting a hood fan and grew from there...  The new kitchen was designed to accommodate many cooks simultaneously during parties, but also had to function well for two users.

The large countertops allow for lots of prep space and the ample cabinets provide tonnes of storage.

The built-in appliances and breakfast bar help keep the kitchen looking clean and presentable to guests while remaining functional.  The breakfast bar turns and becomes a storage shelf behind the counter and stove.

The solid wood cabinetry, granite counters, marble tile backsplash, mosaic tile floor, and bronze fixtures and handles lend the kitchen an old-world feel which was important to the owner.

Unique touches are found in the custom handmade glass inserts in the wall cabinets, and the refinished antique artpiece centred behind the cooktop.
